First Email from the Mission Field! March 3, 2014
Hey everybody!
I'm so excited to be here and it's freezing! I'm sorry I haven't emailed as much as I would like to but it's been a crazy couple of weeks. We white washed the area that I'm in, which is Roseville, and took the Elders place. Everyone is so happy to have sisters in the area, they keep saying we answered their prayers, apparently they haven't had sister in the area for years. It's so fun going around and having so many people recognize you on the street. My companion sister Mickleson so so awesome, she's from Idaho and we've become very close. Every person that asks where we're from they say "No wait let me guess, one of you has to be from Utah or Idaho." haha. We took the Elders apartment that they were staying at and let me just say boys are so gross!! we spent the last couple of days cleaning and now you can tell a difference in sister and elders apartments haha.
Roseville is kind of a sad town, they don't have a lot of money and it kind of reminds me of Ogden. The winter was really bad and the ice has created holes in the roads and the government doesnt' have enough money to fix it. Heavenly Father has created some pretty amazing miracles here though. On Tuesday I prayed that I would be able to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost more and later that day we were looking at he referral sheet trying to decide which person to visit first. I got the feeling that we should go visit Genna Webb and when we got there she was so excited and welcoming to have us and we got to set up another appointment. Genna is a single mom with two boys Glenn and Michael, Glenn is 18 and lives at home and Michael is 13 and has Autism. They're such a cute family, I'm always excited when I get to see them. They love God and they are very interested in what we have to say. We taught them the Restoration on Friday and they loved it! I'm so glad Heavenly Father blessed me with that opportunity!
It's really cold here but I'm staying pretty warm and seeing so many miracles here. I had the opportunity to go to stake Conference Saturday and Sunday and it was cool because all the talks were about serving the Lord and teaching people the Gospel, which is what I'm doing! I've never felt the spirit so much before in my life, it's such a great blessing to have. I know that this is the place that I was meant to be and it's so cool going around being a representative of Jesus Christ, even though a lot of people are not very interested. I've had a lot of door slams and it's been fantastic! Sister Mickleson has been such a great trainer and I've seen and learned so much over the past couple weeks. I'm not going to lie though it's such a tiring job! I swear when my head hits that pillow I'm out. I don't move a single inch a night, which is good because it means I did a good job that day :) I'm so happy to be here and having the amazing support from all of you, keep up the good work and I will definitely be emailing soon.
Love you guys and the Gospel is true!
Love, sister Gordon (I'm never going to be tired of that name!)
