Email December 8, 2014

Hey ya'll! Alright I'm so sorry about the delayed email last week haha. Today was pretty awesome, we went to Detroit with Sister Price's friend Noelle and we went to the zoo, it was awesome! Detroit is the best! I freakin love the D! Anyway so since I didn't email last week I'll tell you about Thanksgiving because it was so funny. So we got invited to Thanksgiving by the Showalter family like forever ago and like the day before Thanksgiving she calls us and doesn't know what to do. She invited the Hill Family (the dad is in the stake presidency) and the Perry family (the dad is less active) to dinner too but apparently Bro. Perry had bad experiences in the past with missionaries and sis. Showalter didn't want him to feel like we were setting him up to get him to come back to church. We didn't want that either so we told her not to worry and we didn't have to go to dinner at her house, so we got uninvited. Wait it gets better... We didn't want to call people and invite ourselves over for dinner either because that would be awkward so we were thinking it might be fun to have our own cute little Thanksgiving by ourselves. Well then Sis. Tanner (the relief society pres. also she reminds me of you mom haha) she called us and invited us over to dinner at her house but she also invited the Elders and we had a rule that only one set of missionaries were allowed per house so we couldn't go there. so apparently she sent an email out to all the sisters in the ward telling them that we didn't have a place for Thanksgiving and pretty soon we get a call from Sis. Bauss (ward mission leader's wife) freaking out because we didn't have a place to eat and we couldn't go over there because they were going out of our area for dinner haha so she started freaking out and crying because she felt bad. So we told her it would be ok and we would call Sister Gerber and let her know. So we called Sister Gerber and she said we could come over to the mission home to eat so everything was fine now right?...NOT! haha like two seconds later we get a call from Sis. Showalter saying we could eat over at her house again because Sis. Perry saw the email and felt bad that we didn't have a place and called Sis. Showalter to ask if we could go to her house! haha so we got reinvited to the place we were originally going to go for Thanksgiving haha oh man! Definitely a Thanksgiving to remember haha. and it turns out that Bro. Perry didn't feel awkward about it at all, he came right up to us and talked to us for a long time haha it was so funny! Also after Thanksgiving since we couldn't tract because it was dark we went around to all the gas stations in our area and gave the people working there a candy bar and talked to them. Turns out that's a really good way to find people haha. I swear gas stations are the best! I'm met some of the most awesome people talking to them at the gas station haha. Anyway we met this awesome guy Alliy but it's pronounced (e.d.) how? I have no idea haha it's Arabic. He's so cool though, he's adorable and has the best accent in the world! we've been teaching him for a couple days now and you have to teach him very slow. It has to be very very basic, the last lesson we had with him, we taught him how to pray. It was so cute watching this like 45 yr. old man praying for the first time, best thing I think I've ever seen! Also we took James to this Christmas tour in Rochester. It was called "one night in Bethlehem" it was awesome, we took a tour through the church and it was decorated cool and we saw the shepherds, wise men, the inn, and finally the manger with the baby Jesus, it was awesome! the spirit was super strong. I also saw a lot of people I knew there, Sister Haws was there, I freaking love that girl! it was great to talk to her. We haven't had a whole ton happen here haha we've been doing a lot of tracting and finding lately but it's ok, I know Heavenly Father is preparing people for us we just need to find them that's all. We're going to keep working hard haha, Heavenly Father keeps putting trials in my path but that's ok. I'm getting stronger and learning a lot and I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can do all things. Also, one last thing. "He is the gift" if you haven't seen it yet, watch it! if you have, watch it again! haha it's so good and such a good reminder about the first gift of Christmas. Share it with everyone! We're trying to spread it out and get everyone to feel the spirit and remember the true meaning of Christmas. Also the Christmas Devotional was so good too! Anyway I love you all so much, thank you for all your support, I can't believe it's almost Christmas! Time is the worst thing ever haha. Here's something that made me feel super old, Sister Mickelsen is going home at the end of this transfer, she's leaving on Tuesday! Ahhhh! I saw her at Zone conference (Which was awesome by the way. President Gerber always has such good instructions and President Medley was there too. sooo good!) Anyway Sister Mickelsen asked if I felt old because she was dying soon and it's just so weird to me. it doesn't feel like I've been out that long. Well I hope you all have a wonderful week I love, love, love you all and the gospel is so true! Sister Kellee Gordon
