Hey Fam!
This week has been really good, we've had a lot of things happen. I can't believe it's Monday already, it seems like I just barley talked to you guys. I guess that's a good thing, it means that I'm working hard right? (I hope so). It has been so sunny and warm here the last couple of days and I'm loving it, it's not as humid as I though here so I'm totally straightening my hair. Anyway it rained like three or four days ago and when it rains, it pours! I love it!
We went tracting in the rain and Sister Mickelsen and I kept singing "I'm singing in the rain!" the whole time. Is that dignified and missionary appropriate I don't really know but it was fun haha. We went to this one house and knocked on it and we were laughing about something Sister Mickelsen said right as the guy answered the door and we said hi being all friendly as we usually are and he was like "You guys are awfully happy, you realize it's raining right?" We just smiled and said we had an important message to share that has made us so happy, he wasn't interested but he did say "Whatever message you guys have must be true if you're always this happy." Even though he didn't accept our message he said he would remember how happy we were which was kind of cool.
On Tuesday it was so warm and sunny and so to save miles on our car we just walked everywhere. All of our appointments fell through though so it was seriously a whole day of tracting and we were tracting this one street and we both felt like we needed to go to one of those houses super strongly. We knocked on the door and met a lady named Kristen and she is super awesome! She said that when we came it was a sign from God, she said she was in the middle of separating from her husband and she was moving. She has a daughter Allie, who's five and they're the cutest family ever! Kristen is hilarious, she's major OCD and gets distracted really easily, she's like 27 and we have met with her a couple times and she says that she feels peaceful when we come. She's really sad that she's moving out of our area on the 22nd but she's still in the same church building so that's good. She keeps saying how she feels like she knows us and after the second time meeting with us she said she loves us. She wants us to go to a Tiger's game with us sometime on P-day haha.
Another crazy miracle that happened like 2 days ago. Remember the Webb family that I told you about sometime ago that we had to drop? We were driving home from an appointment and for some reason we turned on the street that they lived on and we were driving past and I say Glenn sitting on a chair in his backyard. I screamed "It's Glenn!!!" at Sister Mickelsen and we stopped on the side of the road and went to go talk to him. He was still very open to us and nicer than ever, he said that Genna (his mom) didn't want to meet with us anymore but he was still interested even though Genna won't let him see us either. We just happened to come at the right time when Genna wasn't home, we taught him about the Book of Mormon and gave him a copy so he could read and we also got his phone number so that he can text us. I know I say this all the time but how cool is Heavenly Father!! I love him!
We also went to Detroit again for our zone meeting. I have to say I really am loving Detroit, even though it's scary and super dangerous, I love it. You can't drive through it without it effecting you in some way. It breaks my heart to see the condition it's in, we had a meeting with the Bishop not too long ago and he said that all Detroit needs is the gospel. It's so true! If everyone had the gospel there it would make such a difference. They would be able to experience true happiness which is something they've never felt before, it wouldn't necessarily change the hardship with money and stuff, I'm sure they would still struggle financially but they would be a lot happier.
Being on a mission here has made me see things in God's perspective more and I am really beginning to love and see people as children of God. I know that Heavenly Father really is the head of this work and I'm loving being able to see the amazing miracles here! by the way I'm still totally freaking out about Elder Holland coming here just so you know! I might have like a mini stroke haha. I love you guys and have a fantastic week!
